January 25, 2004

Hello All,

Before I start with all the table hockey news; I wanted to let all of you know, that on Monday January 12th, Jerry was stuck by a transport van near the Hempstead, NY train station. He called me earlier in the week to tell me what happened. It seems that this taxi companies vehicle rounded a street corner going about 40mph (according to both police/witnesses) when the vehicle struck Jerry who was ¾ a crossed the road. Jerry was sent flying in the air. He came down on his shoulder. Jerry is going to therapy three-times a week to gain full movement in the shoulder. The taxi service is paying for Jerry’s medical expenses, but Jerry’s lawyer I’m sure will be looking out for his better well-being. If you would like to send Jerry an e-mail, you can reach him at jerry @acthl.com

And Yes, Jerry will be at February 21st league games. He can move his hands & wrists, he just can’t lift.

Due to both my recent finical & personal troubles, the Multi-Game tournament scheduled for March 27th has been postponed. I would like to hold the tournament later on this year, perhaps around the end of September. This would be a great kick-off to the third ACTHL season. Sorry that I had to cancel the tournament, but life has thrown me a curve and I have to focus on my matters at hand.

As far as the Stiga “Liberty Classic” held on March 6th, in Haddon Township by Len Mecca. I still plan on going. I will be sending my money on February 2nd. If you plan on going, please e-mail me and let me know.

Now, back to the league that counts…ACTHL.

The ACTHL season has two months remaining before the playoffs on April 17th. Because, there is only two months of games remaining, anyone who fails to show-up for either February 21 or March 13 games, these games WILL BE FORFEITED. Presently, we have three tiers of players. The first tiers are players Roger Owens/Brooklyn Eckfords, Paul Vershbow/Valkyries, Andrey Krukov/Moscow Dynamos, James Friedl/Charlestown Chiefs, Adam Zawislak/NJ Scorpions, Craig Sierak/Express and Cat Merto/Hilton Hip Cats. These players will be scheduled to play 56 season games. The reason for this is that they have either missed only one month of games, or zero missed games.

Like the problem we had last season, some players will have played a few extra games between opponents. The plan every season is to have an even amount of games scheduled for each player. But, because players don’t show and time/games can’t be made up in time before the season ends, we run into scheduling problems.

Here is a list of the players with such problems.

Express: Because the Express has played three games instead of two against a third tiered team (Mechanicsburg’s Moose); they will finish the season with a 57 game total.

NJ Scorpions: Because the Scorpions played 3 Games instead of two against two tiered teams (Mechanicsburg’s Moose & the Queens House Of Detention) they will finish the regular season with 58 games.

Mechanicsburg Moose: The Moose played overages with both the Express & the NJ Scorpions, had they will finish the season with a total of 30 games. As a tier two player, the Moose should have only have played 26 games.

Queens House Of Detention: Because the QHD played the Scorpions three time instead of two; the QHD will have only played 25 games.

The tier two players are those who have missed two months of ACTHL games. These players/Teams are Phil Valensi/Staten Island Owls, Todd Bouverot/Vancouver Vomit and Patrick Mulholland/Tazmanian Rangers. These players will have 44 regular season games.

The third tiered players are those who have missed three or more months of ACTHL games. Those players are Jerry Randell/QHD, Kim Hartmoyer/Mechanicsburg Moose, Derrick Jabs/Mad Dogs and Mighty Ducks/Wally Jabs. These players will have a total of 26 games played (except where noted).

If problems occur with the standings after the regular season ends (only with the Express, Moose, Scorpions or QHD) a one game playoff will take place on March 13th, after the regular season games have ended. IT WILL ALL WORK OUT!

Here is the final two-month schedule for each team. But, before you look at your team’s schedule, keep in mind, if you miss any more games…YOU FORFEIT THEM. A win will be awarded to the player that is there for the league games.

I’ll be away from my computer all of next week. So, if I don’t respond fast…You’ll know why. The Stiga side of the ACTHL will follow next weekend. I would love to have someone write up the news for the Stiga league… Anyone interested?

Here is the recap on January 10th’s Vintage league games. On a day that the temperature never got above 10 degrees; some players fought off the cold to have big table hockey days. Roger Owens and his Brooklyn Eckfords continue their hasty frontward climb to the ACTHL vintage crown. The Brooklyn Eckfords had a near perfect day, going 6-0-1. With Andrey Krukov still in Moscow, the Eckfords increased their lead at the top spot by 13 points.

The Eckfords had duel wins over the Kim Hartmoyer/Moose and Patrick Mulholland/Tazmanian Rangers. The team hailing from Brooklyn also dealt blows to Cat Merto/Hilton Hip Cats and Craig Sierak/Express.

Kim Hartmoyer/Mechanicsburg Moose showed the boys that she would be a team to reckon’ with from now on, and into the playoffs. The Moose hurdled over both the Vancouver Vomit and the Mighty Ducks to take over the ten spot. If the playoffs were to start today, the Mechanicsburg Moose would face-off against her brother Craig Sierak/Express. These two teams faced off twice on the 10th, and the Moose beat her brother 1-0 and came away with a tied 2-2. The season series between these siblings is knotted at 1-1-1. Another key series was the one against fifth place Adam Zawislak/NJ Scorpions. The Moose flexed their muscles against “Home Ice” contending Scorpions; posting a 5-0 and 1-0 shutouts on the normally tight Scorps defense.

This month also seen the return of Craig Sierak/Express, fresh off the hip replacement surgery back in December. The Express were slow after a one-month lay-off, only going 2-4-1 on the night. I’m sure that his timing was slightly off, but I have full confidence that the Express will be one of the teams fighting for “Home Ice” advantage come March 13th.

The one team that is showing signs of major improvement is Patrick Mulholland/Tazmanian Rangers. The Tazmanian Rangers have shown that they can score on anyone, and still hold their ground against the top 5 teams in the league. The Rangers scored 16 goals in 9 games (1.77), while posting 2-5-2 record for the evening. The Tazmanian Rangers soared pass the Mighty Ducks and Vancouver Vomit, to take over 9th place in the Vintage standings. Key victories came versus Hip Cats (4-0), Express (3-1) and a (0-0) tie against the NJ Scorpions.

Benefiting from the absence of the Moscow Dynamos was Paul Vershbow/Valkyries. The Valkyries moved into second place with a 3-1-1 record for the evening. Paul shutout the Moose (2-0) and the Scorpions (2-0), and crushed the Hilton Hip Cats (5-2).

The NJ Scorpions seem to be a team that needs to find itself. The defense is still one, if not the best in the league (with a 1.38 GGA), but is having a hard time finding the net. Of the 14 loses they have this season, 5 have been by 0-1 scores. Averaging only 0.96 GA, the Scorpions took home 6 points that night to move ahead into fifth place. The key test for the Scorps that evening was facing the Brooklyn Eckfords. The patented Scorpions “D” gave the team a hard fought 0-0 tie against the top club.

Cat Merto/Hilton Hip Cats remained in the 8th spot, going 3-4-0. The Cats pulled from wins against the Moose (5-1), Express (3-2) and the Tazmanian Rangers (3-1). The Cats might be one of those teams looking at a first round “Home” game. If the playoffs were to begin today, the Cats would be facing with the Tazmanian Rangers. That season series is tied at 1-1.

Well, that is a look at the Vintage side of things. Personally, I’m going to lay low on the ACTHL Website, and focus in on my goal scoring, or lack of. I’ll be tackling the Stiga news in about a week. So, until then…See You!

December 26, 2003

With only three month’s remaining in the regular ACTHL season, the top spots are being filled fast for “Home” ice advantage in the opening round of the league playoffs on April 17th.

December 13ths games only seen nine players show up to compete. The shortage of players helped others move up in the standings. The one player who deeply missed was Craig Sierak/Express. Craig recently was released from the hospital after having hip replacement surgery. Craig is hoping to return to active duty for the upcoming January 10th games. Also missing in action were Derrick (Mad Dogs) & Wally Jabs (Mighty Ducks), Kim Hartmoyer (Mechanicsburg Moose) and Cat Merto (Hilton Hip Cats).

Although quite a few players were missing, one player returned to the line-up. Jerry Randell (Queens House Of Detention) came back after missing two months being on the DL. One quick note; the league will do its best to have most everyone players play the same amount of regular season games. If you have missed more than two months of ACTHL games, you will make the playoffs, but will not have played the same amount of regular season games as someone who many have only missed one month of play.

Russian born Andrey Krukov (Moscow Dynamos) went 4-3-0 in the Vintage league to move into second place, passing Paul Vershbow (Valkyries). Dynamos and Valkyries matched up in December; with the Dynamos taking a 3-2-road victory. The Dynamos also shutdown the highflying SI Owls 6-0 at home.

Since returning to the league after missing the first month of the season; Phil Valensi (Staten Island Owls) have come back with a vengeance. Having felt that the SI Owls would have done some damage in last years ACTHL playoffs (But couldn’t attend), Phil is focused on the cup. The Owls posted a 5-3-0 record this month to move them two places into 5th place. Phil had key wins over then 2nd place Paul Vershbow 6-2 (Home), the Dynamos 3-2 (Home) and destroyed Adam Zawislak’s Scorpions 8-2 (Home). Phil also tallied 25 more goals to put himself into 4th place in the running for the Mike Bossy award.

Adam Zawislak (NJ Scorpions) also took advantage of the few missing players, and jumped from 8th to 6th place. The Scorpions had a 3-1-1 record in December. For the first time this season, the Scorpions are at .500, with a 10-10-7 record.

The Vintage league leader remains Roger Owen (Brooklyn Eckfords) with a 17-5-7 record. Roger went 3-0-0 in the month, and continues to prove that Stiga is not his only specially.

A few reminds from the league and the world of Table Hockey:

A buffet will be served after the first round.  While everyone eats
and winds down, we will calculate records and set up the groups for
the second round.

2:15- 4:15 2ND ROUND
based on your record in the OPENING ROUND, you will be placed in one
of 3 groups of 16, for the 2ND ROUND.  If your record was great, you
will be placed in the "A" group.  Those with few wins will be placed
in a "C" group.  Those with records around .500 are placed in
the "B" group.  In this round you will be ONLY playing players with
similar records as yours.

finished playing by 5:00. By 5:30 only 12 players will be "alive".
The Champions should be crowned by 7:30

everybody gets to play a minimum of 30 games during the course of
the day.  With the 3-group format, everybody gets to play similar
competition for at least half of their games.

"R.Mac's" has allowed us to come into their facility based on
knowing that 48 players, their friends, kids, wives etc. will be
eating and drinking all day long at their facility.  They will be
serving an $8.00 buffet consisting of chicken, pasta, salad etc.

We will be using the $30.00 entry fee to cover the costs of the
prizes to presented to the winners, t-shirts etc.  The remaining
costs will come out of our pockets.  I have not yet addressed the
actual amounts of the prizes, but will do that as soon as I line up
sponsors etc.

I will also tweak my website shortly and make it easy to pre-
register so that we can get this organized.

I will be raffling 2 tickets to the Flyers/Senators game (Friday
March 5th game) to all that preregister by February 15th, 2004

@ Only 20 players will be able to play in this 1of a kind

I would like to wish each of you a Happy $ Healthy New Year!

Thanks to those of you who joined us on Saturday. I've finished doing the website, adding stats etc... Also found out that Tripod (who hosts the ACTHL website) has been having continuous problems with their servers. So, I have not been able to post any of this months information for you to view. So, in this e-mail you will see the standings (Vintage & Stiga) and scores (Vintage & Stiga). I've also update the "Awards Leaders" section. If Tripod ever gets their "S" together, you can follow the current leaders for the Mike Bossy, Ed Giacomin and Road Warriors awards for the 2003-2004 season.

Just finished watching the Jets beat Da' Raiders in OT. Nice going, but they didn't cover the 3.5 points. I don't want to talk about the Miami Dolphins. When will management fire Weinstadt?

I would like to thank James Friedl for stepping up and purchasing two new talking timers, and bringing the folding table. I would also like to thank Patrick Mulholland for joining our little family of Table Hockey players. Good Start Patrick! Hope to see you December 13th. Patrick, let me know when you pick out a team name/logo. If you need help with a design, we got a number of different hack artists in the league that can help you out. Also, thanks to www.tablehockey games.com for the Stiga "Original Six" pucks. VERY NICE!!!

November 2, 2003

This upcoming Saturday, November 8th, will be the third month of league play. Currently, the Moscow Dynamo's (Andrey Krukov)are the leaders is the Vintage division. On the only side of the board, the Brooklyn Eckfords (Roger Owens) hold on to the number slot in the Stiga league.

It looks like we might have one or two new players joining us this Saturday. A week ago, the owners of the company I work for went on vacation. This was my opportunity to show the folks at work just what I do for fun. Low and behold, each afternoon became a mini tournament. I believe that I might have located other player or two. I'll know more as the week goes on.

I'm been away from my PC for the passed two weeks. My wife Monica received news from Colombia that her father of 89 years of age was near death, due to a viral infection that resulted from an earlier intestine/stomach operation. Monica's been in Colombia since October 23rd. I'm happy to say that her father has been doing much better since her arrival. If all goes well, my father-in-law could return to his home in a week or two.

With that said; Monica is due to arrive back in the states on the 8th. Yes, this Saturday. But, she will be touching down at 11:30pm. Saturday will be a longgggggggg.....day. But a long awaited one for me.

Back to Table Hockey. I've purchased five more foam mats that I'll bring this weekend. I believe James was going to purchase two more timers. I'm placing an order myself with www.tablehockeygames.com for two more Stiga talking timers. This should cover some of our missing needs. I'll remind anyone, that this is a free league and that we enjoy both old and new players. But, it's important that if you have a game, to please bring it. Last month, we only had one Stiga table for eight players. So, once again, if you have a table be it Stiga or Vintage, please bring it. Wally, if you could, could you please bring that folding table again? Thanks.

Here are some of this months key games for the Vintage league:

Chiefs @ Express: The first meeting between last seasons playoff combatants, saw the Express winning at home 6-0. Having played two fewer games, Craig & the Express are currently in fifth, but are only 4 points out of first place.

Hilton Hip Cats @ Chiefs: The Charleston Chiefs were surprised when they had to settle for a 1-1 tie against the 6th place Hilton Hip Cats. Now, back at home, the Chiefs are looking to move forward up in the standing.

Team Paul @ Chiefs: This will be the second meeting this season between these two teams. The first was a 1-0 win for team Paul. Paul Vershbow, rookie from Manhattan is knotted in a first place tie with the Moscow Dynamos. The Chiefs will be looking for pay back from the earlier lose.

Eckfords @ Dynamos: The fourth place Brooklyn Eckfords upset the league leading Dynamos back in October 2-1. Now, the Eckfords are not only looking for another win, but have their are eyes set on first place.

Dynamos @ Express: The Champion vs. the Runner-Up. The champ took it on the chin back on October 11th, being shutout at home 0-2. Game 1 to the Express.

Mad Dogs @ Ducks: Son vs. Father. Mad Dogs are looking for their first win of the season, while the Mighty Ducks look to improve on a disappointing 2-7-1 October.

Scorpions @ Eckfords: The Scorpions get to see if last months 1-0 victory over the fourth place Eckfords was a fluke or a sign that the early 4-7-3 record posted might be a sign of things to come.

Express @ Hilton Hip Cats: The first meeting this season; the sixth place Hilton Hip Cats shutdown the high potent offense of the Express 4-0. Only 2 points separate these two teams.

Hilton Hip Cats @ Staten Island Owls: The Owls returned to action after missing last seasons ACTHL Playoffs and the first month of the new season. The Owls shutout the Hilton Hip Cats 1-0 in their October match. What will happen in November?

Scorpions @ Express: They finished last season tied for first. Now they meet for first time this season. Will it be played on a Munro or an Eagle table?

Vomit @ Mad Dogs: It's number 12 vs. 11. This will be the first time these two teams face-off. Both have very similar defensive styles. The final score could be 0-0.

Thanks for reading. Please e-mail me and let me know if you will be attending this Saturday games. Also, let me know if you can bring a game.

October 26, 2003

Dynamos-(1) Starting off this season 3-1-0, the Dynamo's paved their first place domination going 6-2-2 in October. With significant victories over the once lethal NJ Scorpions 2-0, a 7-3 drubbing over then first place Charlestown Chiefs, and held on in a shootout against the Hilton Hip Cats 6-5. Averaging 3 points a game, the reigning champ looks to be on track for another run at the cup.

Paul Vershbow-(1) Of the five rookies to join ACTHL this season, Paul (No Team Name Yet) has proven that September's numbers were no fluke. In October, Paul went 5-3-2 and is in a stalemate with the Moscow Dynamo's (Andrey Krukov) for first place.

Paul showing off both offensive power (averaging 2.3 goals in October), and defensive skills shutting down the NJ Scorpions 4-0, the Mighty Ducks 2-0 and the Charlestown Chiefs 1-0. Paul will be one of the contenders to fight to have his name engraved on the ACTHL cup. Paul also had a surprising road victory over ACTHL Cup runner-up Express (Craig Sierak) 3-2. The match-up of last month was a road tie against his counterpart the Moscow Dynamo's. The final score was 3-3. Don't be surprised to see Paul battle the Dynamo's all the way for the league crown.

Charlestown Chiefs-(2) Falling out of first place, but only by one point, the Chiefs persist in their pace to be one of the front runner of this league. In October, James Friedl went 5-4-1. Holding opponents to only 1.5 goals per game. Last month the Chiefs had 4 shutouts; two against the hapless NJ Scorpions (1-0, 1-0), a 2-0 win over the Mad Dogs (Derrick Jabs) and a 2-0 triumph over the Mighty Ducks (Wally Jabs).

Brooklyn Eckfords-(2) Tied for second with the Charlestown Chiefs, the Eckfords (Roger Owens) continues to show that he's not just a great Stiga player, but a top candidate to dethrone the Moscow Dynamo's. The Eckfords went 5-3-2 in October. Going 4-1-1 on the road, the Eckfords had a key 2-0 shutout over second place cohort Charlestown Chiefs. Other road wins came against the Hilton Hip Cats 3-2, first place Dynamo's 2-1, Paul Vershbow 2-1 & the Munro King Phil Valensi (Staten Island Owls) 4-1.

Express-(3) 5-2-2 in October, the Express (Craig Sierak) remains 4 points out of striking distance of first place, The Express shutdown the two mighty offensives of the Dynamo's (2-0) and the Brooklyn Eckfords (1-0). Craig also managed to squeak out a point against both the Staten Island Owls and the Brooklyn Eckfords, both ties were 1-1 scores.

Hilton Hip Cats-(4) Going 4-4-2 in October, the Hilton Hip Cats carry on the fight to translate from Stiga to Vintage style. Cat Merto had two shutouts, one versus the NJ Scorpions (2-0), and one against the Mighty Ducks (2-0). Plus, a shocking 4-0 defeat of the Express. The cats also scratch out two ties against second place Charlestown Chiefs (1-1) and the first place Paul Vershbow (1-1).

Staten Island Owls-(5) The story in October was the return of the Staten Island Owls. Phil Valensi missed the playoffs last season due to family matters, and missed the first month of the new season. It didn't take him long for the rust to come off. The Owls posted a 4-2-3 record in their return to action.

The Owls were in rare form shutting out the Hilton Hip Cats 1-0. On the road, the Owls went 1-1-3. The games included ties against league leader Dynamo's (0-0) and third place Express (1-1). At home, Phil had key victories against the Chiefs and Mighty Ducks.

Mighty Ducks-(6) Having a rough outing in October, the Ducks failed to add to their 3-1-1 start. Only going 2-7-1 last month. The Mighty Ducks were shutdown offensively by four teams; Paul Vershbow (0-2), Chiefs (0-2), Hilton Hip Cats (0-2) and the Scorpions (0-1).

Not all was bad news for the Ducks. Wally Jabs pulled off two upsets; stoning the Hilton Hip Cats (1-0) and shutting down the first place Paul Vershbow team (1-0).

NJ Scorpions-(7) Here is an enigma. What happened to the 18-6-5 first place team from 2002-2003 season? The Scorpions are a mere 4-7-3 early in the season. What's with the lack of scoring? Last season the Scorpions averaged 4.79 goals a game. This season the Scorpions are averaging 0.85 goals a game. The defense is there. The Scorps are holding their opponents to a diminutive 1.42 goals against. Of the nine games that Adam played in October, all were either shutout wins or shutout loses.

Queens House Of Detention- (8) Q.H.D went on the D/L this month, but is planning to return back to action perhaps as early as January 2004.

Mad Dogs- (9) The Dogs remain winless going into November, but show signs of breaking out. Derrick Jabs held the top players/teams to low scores in October; Chiefs 0-2, Dynamo's 0-2 and the Express 1-2. Just a few lucky bounces, and the Mad Dogs will be back in the hunt.

Vancouver Vomit- (10) Todd Bouverot was unable to attend Octobers games. And will be looking forward to coming out of the cellar in November.

Mechanicsburg Moose- Rumor has it, that the Moose will be making her season debut in November.

ACTHL WEEK 2 IN REVIEW

The pucks were flying at O'Donoghues on First during a cool autumn
Saturday afternoon in Hoboken New Jersey. Week 2 of the American
Continental Table Hockey League was a huge success. An unprecedented
77 vintage and stiga games were played on a day that saw the
emergence of new talent and the long awaited return of a wise old owl.

THE HILTON HIP CATS: NOT SO FRIENDLY FELINES

The stylish cats pounced on the opportunity to toy with their
opponents winning 11 out of their 15 scheduled games with 2 ties. It
was the frisky felines who caught their unsuspecting foes napping
shutting out the vaunted Express 4 to 0 and feasting on a 2-0
victory over the Mighty Ducks. The Hip Cats were certainly in vogue
this day even against their arch enemy Eckfords, defeating the dogs
from Brooklyn 3 to 1 on a stiga table. And yes, an eckford was a
dog long before a minor league baseball team. Anyway, the cats are
looking to scratch their way to the top of both the vintage and stiga
divisions in what was for them a PURRFECT day. Sorry, all out of Cat
Clichés

THE STATEN ISLAND OWLS COME OUT OF HIDING

Returning from a long leave of absence, those old wise kings of the
Monroe Power game showed no signs of rust. Perhaps even more
impressive than their overall record of 4 wins 2 losses and 3 ties
was the fact that the owls performed surprisingly well on the road.
Once novices on the coleco table, the team from the forgotten borough
battled the Dynamos and scorpions to scoreless ties and shut out the
Hilton Hip Cats 1 to 0. Now will the owls be motivated to finish the
regular season without forfeiting the playoffs?

SCORPIONS LOSE THEIR STING,

Coach Adam Zawislak of the New Jersey Scorpions must be contemplating
the demise of his once potent offense. In five home games on a coleco
table, the scorpions could only muster one goal, eking out a 1 to 0
victory over the Brooklyn Eckfords. A scoreless tie with the Staten
Island Owls and shut out losses to the Chiefs and Dynamos sent the
poison arachnoids crawling for cover. But it was a 4 to 0 trouncing
complements of Paul Vershbow that sent the Scorpions home with their
venomous tails between their legs.

LEAGUE NOTES

Paul Vershbow scores shut out victories over father and son defeating
the Mad Dogs 5 to 0 and the Mighty Ducks 2 to 0. The Queens House of
Detention sidelined indefinitely due to congenital eye condition and
poor lighting at O'Ds. Whether it was too much time in the hole
during solitary confinement no one knows but QHD will rehab and hope
to return in 2004 to fight for the ACTHL cup. Vancouver Vomit and
Moose were both missing in action last Saturday. Moose yet to debut.
ACTHL commissioner has scheduled the next round of games for Saturday
November 8, 2003 at 2:00 p. Those of you who have timers and stiga
games are asked to please bring them with you.

"Newcomers Do Well In ACTHL Season Opener"

by Jerry Randell

The second season of the American Continental Table Hockey League began with a bang at O'Donoghue's On First last Saturday September 20, 2003.  Thanks to the tireless work of ACTHL Commissioner Adam Zawislak, the North East's finest is gaining popularity. In less than one year, the league has grown from a dedicated core of four committed die hards to eleven talented players,  with more on the way. Highlighting this group of upstarts are Paul Vershbow, and Wally Jabs (Mighty Ducks).  The Ducks went 3 - 1 - 1 with impressive victories over  the Scorpions and QHD and battled the Brooklyn Eckfords to a two all tie. Not to be outdone, Paul Vershbow took the PATH train to Hoboken and promptly posted a 4 - 2 record with an awe inspiring shutout victory over last year's championship finalist Craig Sierak (Express) on a Vintage/Coleco table.

James Friedl (Chiefs) occupies first place in the vintage division gaining a bit of revenge by defeating league champs Moscow Dynamos 4 goals to 1 and blanking the Express  on a vintage/Eagle game six goals to nil.

"Young Star on the Horizon"

The young Derrick Jabs (Mad Dogs)  was more than game fighting both the scorpions and Hilton Hip Cats to ties in his first league action.  The Mad Dogs played magnificent defense and displayed a flair for the dramatics with a last second heroic goal against the Scorpions.

Stiga Notes

Roger Owens seems to be the class of the stiga division posting a perfect 5 - 0 record. His 4 to 1 lopsided victory over last year's Vintage champion Moscow Dynamos was impressive. The Brooklyn Eckfords scored 24 goals while allowing only five during their rampage at O'Donoghue's On First. Todd Bouverot (Vancouver Vomit) is hanging on to second place with victories over the Express and the Mad Dogs.  The versatile Andrey Krukow (Moscow Dynamos should provide the stiffest competition for the Eckfords and the rest of the stiga league.  Moscow Dynamos are dangerous on stiga and vintage tables alike.  It will be interesting to keep an eye on this matchup throughout the season. ACTHL Commissioner Adam Zawislak has scheduled the next round of games for Saturday October 11th at 2:00 p.m.  Mark your calendars and bring your best game in what promises to be an exciting season of table hockey.
